Reflect on all the you have to be grateful for and you will find more to be grateful for.
Oh, the fun of Halloween! My kids drove me crazy bouncing off the walls all day waiting for it to finally be time to party. Or at least time to trick-or-treat. What it would be to be a child again. Do you remember how things were for you as a child? I remember that the world was wonderful and there were so many interesting and magical things to see and learn. I remember that I knew nothing of race or color of skin. I didn't know the difference between a democrat and a republican and had no concept of rich or poor. I thought that everyone told the truth.
As we were out at a neighborhood "trunk-or-treat" there was a funny little kid dressed as a nerd. He had toilet paper hanging from the back of his pants and was playing the part so well. I said to Jackson, "Look at that funny nerd!" Jackson's response kind of shocked me. "What is a nerd, Mom?" I didn't exactly know how to respond to that. I said something along the lines of "oh, it is a person who is really silly and smart and people usually make fun of them." Jackson looked at me as if he still didn't "get" it. All he could say was "that's not very nice." He has never thought of another person that way. Somewhere along our lives, we become hardened and judgmental. I know now why the Savior emphasized so much for us to become as little children. I am so grateful for the innocence of children.
