30 Days of Gratitude. Day 19

"Our society is afflicted by a spirit of thoughtless arrogance unbecoming those who have been so magnificently blessed. How grateful we should be for the bounties we enjoy. Absence of gratitude is the mark of the narrow, uneducated mind. It bespeaks a lack of knowledge and the ignorance of self-sufficiency. It expresses itself in ugly egotism and frequently in wanton mischief....

"Where there is appreciation, there is courtesy, there is concern for the rights and property of others. Without appreciation, there is arrogance and evil."Where there is gratitude, there is humility, as opposed to pride" Gordon B. Hinckley

*********

As I have said before, I wanted this gratitude exercise to bring something new and thoughtful each day. I am afraid I am missing some very important blessings by thinking this way. I have been blessed with the best siblings ever. I am so grateful for the influence they are for good in my life. I remember my parents telling me when I was fighting with one of my sisters to "be nice to each other because one day you will be best of friends!" I should have listened to them. I am afraid I spent way too much time being a mean big sister, and not a friend and support to them. I wish with all of my heart that I could go and change the way I was back then, but I want my sisters and brother to know that I love them eternally. I am grateful that we have turned out to be such good friends. I am also grateful for the awesome family I inherited when I married Geoff. He has wonderful brothers and I love them all, along with the great girls they all married, who I consider my sisters, as well. I also love the "family" the Morgan's have inherited over the last few decades, (Maxine and her family and Staci and her family) and am blessed to have them in my life.

Glad you remember that, Em. So now you can tell your children with conviction, "Mommy always knows best!" Love you.
