30 Days of Gratitude. Day 15

Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.

When I was younger I wanted to be a teacher. I almost finished my degree in elementary education, but met Geoff when I had a semester left before I could do my student teaching, and never finished. I regret it in some ways, and hope to graduate someday. The thing is, I don't think there is any way I could be a teacher now! I used to think I was good with kids... until I had kids. I used to think I was patient with kids.... until I had kids. So now the thought of working with kids all day just doesn't appeal to me AT ALL! I crave adult interaction. Maybe those feelings will change one day, but for now this is how I feel. I want to take a minute to just praise teachers!! I know that teaching is one of the most under-payed and under-appreciated jobs around, and yet they do so much for the kids of this world! I had parent/teacher conferences today. Jackson and Natalie both absolutely love their teachers this year and look forward to going to school each day. It is clear to me that their teachers put in a lot of extra effort to make learning fun and interesting, and I really appreciate the way they seem to truly love their students. I had a teacher while at Northern Arizona University who taught a class on education. There were easily 400 students in that class, and by the second week, she could call us all by name. I will never forget so many of the teachers in my life, both in school, and church as well. I am grateful for the lessons they have taught me, and for the way they have blessed my life!
