30 Days of Gratitude. Day 17

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”~Albert Schweitzer

Yesterday I watched the memorial service for the men and women who were killed in the Fort Hood, Texas, shooting last week. As I listened to the names and saw the faces and heard the stories of those who were killed, I couldn't help but think of the great sacrifice that so many men and women make every day for the freedoms of this great nation. And although I know that these soldiers weren't serving first hand in the war, like millions of others who have died for this country while fighting for freedom, they were serving our country just the same, and many of them had fought overseas and were ready to be deployed again. How do you even begin to say thank you to someone who serves this nation?! The gratitude I feel this day, especially on this Veteran's Day is for all those who have given so much, and so many with their lives, in our service! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Click HERE to see how you can thank a soldier - I love this, but couldn't get it to upload onto this post. Check it out.

Thanks for the great reminder to show gratitude to our current soldiers as well as our veterans.

I've been "gone" for a couple of days and have missed your gratitude. I REALLY have needed it. School is kickin my trash!

Thanks for the reminders. All of your quotes hit home as wonderful reminders. Albert Schweitzer was my hero during my teen years. I wanted to be like him.

Love to you and your hard-working husband and DARLING kids! Jane
