Some days it is easy to be patient, and others it seems like the hardest thing in the world. I told the kids this morning that if they would do a couple of little chores... and I mean little.... then I would let some friends come over to play. Boy, instead of hearing the last part of the sentence, they just didn't want to do any work! Jackson started whining and crying and telling me that I was the meanest mom in the whole wide world. He then told me that I never help them clean up. Hmmmm..... My patience is being tried today. So, what is the secret to getting children to help work? I have tried making it fun, playing music, making charts, rewards, punishments... I am just not sure what to do. Any tips?

Love and patience grow AFTER they have been stretched to their limits. So congratulations! This too shall pass, and before you know it, your children will be grown and gone and you will be wondering what you did to raise such a wonderful family. Take it from one who knows.
We heard a comic tonight who was talking about parenthood. He said that given a choice between shoveling fresh manure for 8 hours a day or watching three children, most people would say, "Where's my shovel?" because at least the manure will work with you. We immediately thought of you. When you get here, we'll give you a shovel while we play with the kids, OK?
You know I have no idea what to do! My kids think I'm the meanest mom in the world too...but they still love me and I still love them! Your kids are so blessed to have you as their mom, and I am blessed to have you as my sister!
