A Good Day

Well, it's been a while since I have posted anything to this blog. I have a lot to catch up on (when I find my camera/computer connector thingy - it's been lost since we got back from AZ a few months ago.) But before I forget about some of these things... here I go....

Potty training Staci has been a little frustrating. OK, well maybe a LOT frustrating. She just wanted NOTHING to do with it! She had shown nothing but HATRED towards the idea of being a "big girl". When I told her that she was a big girl she said, "I am NOT a big girl, I am a baby!!" And immediately she showed me how little she was by crawling on the floor and saying "goo goo ga ga!" I honestly didn't know what it was going to take to get this girl on board the potty train!! I had tried sticker charts, treats, big girl underwear, major bribery ("all you have to do is pee in this pot ONCE and I will give you this brand new Dora doll!"), but NOTHING seemed to interest her. When I asked Geoff what he thought we should do, he said, "I know! Let's not have another one!" :) Honestly, it was getting bad!

Well, one morning I was changing the dirty diaper from hell, when I mentioned to Staci how much I didn't want to change her diapers anymore. "You like-a change my diapers, Mama!" was her response. I then explained that I DIDN'T like to change her diapers, and that it made me want to throw up sometimes.
And that is what did it! I think she had thought that I wanted her to be my baby!! She said right then, "I will go pee-pee in the potty!" I couldn't believe my ears, because she had never said that before. I decided to just put the diapers away for the day and see what happened. And guess what!?! SHE DID IT! It has now been a few weeks and she hasn't even had ONE accident! It just goes to show that there is really no making her do ANYTHING she doesn't want to do - but when she WANTS to do it, she can!! Thanks, Staci for FINALLY deciding it was time!!

Congratulations to both of you!! Staci definitely has a mind of her own. I discovered that fact as a result of personal experience this summer. I tried talking her into putting on Pull Ups after changing her diaper(along with the usual bribes,of course). She scowled at me and did not let me change her diaper again the whole time you guys were here. She only wanted Mommy to do it. She MUST have thought you wanted her to be your baby. What a hoot!

I think that's how Parker is going to be. He not interested in potty training at all. The first trimester is probably not the best time to try anyways! Love ya and miss ya.

That's hilarious! When I'm potty training Kylee, maybe I'll try telling her FIRST that I don't like changing her diapers and then see if that works. :)
