Don't worry, it's not a bad one! (I have enough of those!) My new "high" is coming from trying to find joy in life. It is hard, and this past week was especially hard, but I have faith that if I stay really close to the spirit, I can be happy and have the strength to get through some of the pains and trials I have been facing for the last few years. I have been reading a book (just a short one, don't worry Dad!) called "The Healer's Art" and it talks about how we can be healed, even if we are not cured from what is ailing us. The Savior can heal our hearts to know that whatever trials we face will shape us into the person that He already knows we can be. It comes down to what we can learn from the trials and how we handle them, and learning to submit to the will of our Father in Heaven, even if that means certain trials may last our entire mortal lives. I have decided to laugh more. I have had this humor blog for a couple of months now and am loving it. Unfortunately, it is making it harder to post to this blog. I am still going to... just not feeling it as much right now, sorry! If anybody has ideas on how to learn to laugh when you really feel like crying, especially how to laugh when you are in pain, I would love your ideas. Also if anyone knows how to enjoy your children while you are in pain... that's another one I need! Thanks!

You Rock!
I don't know the answers to those questions, but I do think you are awesome for having the strength to even try...anything...while you are in pain! I hope will be as strong when those trials come my way, and I hope I can find a way to laugh my way through them! You are my FAV big sis!
You're amazing! I can't say I have any help or answers to your questions, but I know that you'll have others who will, and that you'll find the answers you need through them and through staying close to the spirit, like you mentioned. Thanks for being an awesome example--I need to look more for the joy in life and learn to really laugh more. Thanks, Emily. Love you!
That sounds like a great book AND a great goal. You are such a good person and an example to me. Thanks for the post.
Emily, I think this is a great idea and I know you'll be blessed for trying. I don't have the answers myself (besides the ones you already mentioned--scriptures and prayer work better than anything else for me) but one additional thing that can boost my spirits and put life back into perspective for me is reading the NieNie Dialogues (nieniedialogues.blogspot.com). She's so honest but also has such a good attitude, it helps me.
Also--aren't you glad conference is this weekend? I bet there will be answers there...there always are.
Love you!
Anna
This has nothing to do with healing. Mom just read your March 13 posting about feeding the large and aggressive ducks, and burst out laughing! Do you know what you call a large, long-necked, aggressive duck that makes a honking noise instead of a quack? We do. It's called a GOOSE! Ducks are fun to feed. They are patient and rather shy. Geese, on the other hand, are a pain to feed because they attack hoping to get more food. No one lets their kids feed geese by themselves! Too funny! You are such a crack up :)
